{{ Updated to Version 1.5.9's changes }}

The following is a guide to test the player if they know the basics of roles. Though it is not necessary to know all of the information below, the player can naturally expect better results by being more familiar with the game.

General Advice: By now you should know to always keep a will. If you're a town member, be sure to write who you're visiting (if applicable) and exit the last will BEFORE the night ends. If you're not a town role, prepare to write up a fake will! Not having a solid last will is an easy way to get executed. You may find more advice on the Tips and Tricks page.

Answers

1) Which roles are unique?
Town: Jailor, Mayor, Retributionist, Veteran
Mafia: Godfather, Mafioso
Neutral: Werewolf

2) Which roles have a day ability?
Jailor (to select a target to jail)
Mayor (to reveal himself as the Mayor)
Medium (when he is dead to select an alive person to seance the following night)

3) What is the "goal" for each town member?
Lynch every criminal and evildoer.

4) Which roles are night immune / Which roles will display a "Your target was immune to your attack" message to their attacker(s) if attacked?
Arsonist, Executioner, Godfather, Serial Killer, Werewolf. The Bodyguard and Survivor are night immune when using a bulletproof vest. Anyone jailed by the Jailor are immune for that night.

5) What is a "whisper" game?
It is a match where players are asked to whisper their roles and information, often to a confirmed role. Non-town roles must always be prepared for such situations. Waiting too long to whisper drastically places a target on the player's back.

6) John claims that he is a TK. What does "TK" mean?
Town Killing. Check out Glossary of Abbreviations for more information.

7) Two unique roles were found in the graveyard. What's the reason for this?
A Disguiser had disguised as someone else's role. That person happened to be a unique role.

8) A Jester is hanged. The next day, a person who did not vote guilty on the Jester died. How did that happen?
The Jester selected a guilty voter to haunt. That same night, a Transporter transported the Jester's target with someone else. Transporters may transport a Jester's guilt.

9) You are a Bodyguard. John is doused. On the night the Arsonist chooses to ignite, you are protecting John. What will happen?
John will die unless he happens to be in jail that night. The Bodyguard only protects against dousing, not igniting. The Arsonist stays home when he ignites.

10) You are a Doctor. John is doused. On the night the Arsonist chooses to ignite, you select to heal John. What will happen?
John will die unless he happens to be in jail that night. The Doctor cannot prevent a dousing nor save a person who has been ignited.

11) You are an Escort. On night one and night two, you choose to roleblock Betty. On day two and day three there are no deaths. Is Betty guilty?
There is a chance. Remember that if the Godfather is roleblocked, the Mafioso can still attack if he selects a target. The same applies for if the Mafioso is roleblocked. The Godfather can choose a target to kill. Even if there are no deaths, the evil killing roles may be afk, hitting immune targets, or trying out a different strategy.

12) You are an Investigator. On night one you had selected to investigate Samuel. He showed up as a "Sheriff, Executioner or Werewolf." Samuel later dies and his role is revealed. He was really the Jailor! How is this possible?
It's highly likely that a Transporter had switched Samuel with a different person on the night you had investigated him. Only the transported targets will get a notification of being transported. This is why it's important to announce when you've been transported and mention if you've been transported once or twice. If you don't mention anything, your notes may end up being incorrect.

13) You are a Jailor. On night three, you unknowingly select to jail the Werewolf but you do not execute him. What will happen to you?
Nothing. Werewolves can only attack during full moons. Full moons are only on even numbered nights. The Werewolf will not attack you on night three.

14) You are a Lookout. Can you see if a Jailor jails someone?
Yes, as Jailor is a visiting role.

15) You are a Mayor. You have selected to reveal yourself by clicking on the sun icon. What happens now that you've selected that button?
Your vote now counts for three to put someone up on trial. Your vote also counts for three to vote a person innocent or guilty.

16) You are a revealed Mayor. During the night, the Mafia and Serial Killer go to kill you. That same night, the Doctor goes to heal you. What will happen?
The Doctor cannot heal a revealed Mayor. The Mayor will die.

17) You are an alive Medium. Can you see other alive Mediums talking at night time?
No, you cannot. Here is a tip. When there is at least one dead town member in the graveyard, you can immediately state your name and ask the dead to say that you are a Medium. You can also ask them to check if there are other Mediums talking, and if there are, ask for their names so that you may know who the other Mediums may be. Be cautious if there is a neutral role or mafia role claiming someone else is Medium. They may easily be lying to you.

18) You are a Retributionist and you have selected to revive a person. What is the best way to prove that you are the one who has revived said person?
Before the night ends, you should have a whisper ready to send to the person about to be revived. The moment the night's timer hits zero, immediately send the whisper.

19) You are a Sheriff. Which roles will show up as evil if investigated?
All Mafia roles except for the Godfather, the Serial Killer, and the Werewolf (during full moons only). Targets who were framed by the Framer will also show up as evil.

20) You are a Spy. Someone asks you to do a Spy test. What is that?
Spies and Blackmailers are able to read whispers. If someone is asking you to do a Spy test, that means that they want you to repeat what they have whispered to someone else in order for you to prove yourself.

21) You are a Transporter. You transport John Hathorne with Betty Parris. That same night, the Mafia chooses to attack Betty Parris and the Investigator chooses to investigate John Hathorne. What will happen?
The Mafia will attack John Hathorne and the Investigator will unknowingly investigate Betty Parris. The Investigator won't know that their target was transported.

22) You are a Vampire Hunter. Does that mean there is guaranteed to be Vampires this match?
Yes. There cannot be a Vampire Hunter without Vampires, but there can be Vampires without a Vampire Hunter. If there is a Vampire, they would have to be the "Any" in the match.

23) You are a Veteran. You go on alert the same time an Arsonist goes to douse you and a Blackmailer goes to blackmail you. What will happen?
Both the Arsonist and the Blackmailer will die unless healed by a Doctor. You will still get doused and blackmailed.

24) You are a Vigilante. You decide to shoot someone. Your target ended up being an innocent town member who was also executed by the Jailor. What will happen to the Jailor and to you?
The Jailor will no longer be able to execute due to killing an innocent town member. Had that town member not been jailed and executed by the Jailor, you would commit suicide from guilt (if the town member wasn't in jail and died to your bullet). But because the Jailor had executed first, you will not commit suicide from guilt. You basically shot at a dead body.

25) You are an Amnesiac. Can you remember cleaned roles?
Yes, but if that role is unique, you will not be able to remember that role.

26) You are an Amnesiac. Can you remember unique roles?
No, you cannot. Fun fact: If the entire Mafia is wiped out, you still cannot remember to be a Mafioso or a Godfather, but you can remember to be any other Mafia role. If you do happen to remember a Mafia role when the Mafia has been wiped out, you'll immediately be promoted to a Mafioso. The game will announce that an Amnesiac has remembered that they were a Mafioso. ...This makes it obvious to the town that the original Mafia members have all died off.

27) You are an Arsonist. How do you ignite?
Once you've doused one or more players, you may ignite by selecting the button beside your name during the night time.

28) You are an Arsonist. How do you clean gas off of yourself?
In Ranked, you won't need to clean the gas off of yourself unless the "Any" role is another Arsonist who has happened to douse you. To clean yourself, simply don't select any night action. Do not click on any names at all.

29) You are an Executioner. Which roles cannot be your target?
Any Mafia or Neutral roles cannot be your target. In addition, your target will never be a Mayor or a Jailor.

30) You are an Executioner who has died. Your target is hanged later on in the game. Will you win?
No, you must be alive to witness your target be hanged and win as an Executioner.

31) You are an Executioner. What happens if a Disguiser disguises as your target?
Nothing that affects you! Prior to Version 1.5.9 which was released on November 21st of 2016, the Executioner would turn into a Jester. In Version 1.5.9, the Disguiser role was changed. Now the Disguiser simply disguises to appear as a different role without the need of any player dying.

32) You are an Executioner. What happens if a Vampire bites your target?
You will remain as an Executioner with the same target.

33) You are a Jester. Do you win if the game ends while you're still alive?
No, you must be hanged in order to win the game.

34) You are a Serial Killer. Which roles will die if they target you?
Any roleblocking roles. Escort, Jailor, and Consort will die if they visit you. The Jailor will live on if he executes you but the Escort and Consort will always be attacked if they visit you. This makes it possible for one Serial Killer to kill multiple players in one night.

35) You are a Survivor. You decide to put on a bulletproof vest. That same night, an Arsonist goes to douse you and a Vampire goes to bite you. What happens to you?
You will be doused and you will be converted into a Vampire. Your vest doesn't protect you from dousing or bites.

36) You are a Vampire. Which roles are immune to your bite?
Witches, Vampire Hunters, and roles with permanent night immunity cannot be converted. (Arsonist, Executioner, Godfather, Serial Killer and Werewolf) In addition, jailed targets, targets protected by the Bodyguard, and targets healed by the Doctor will not be converted. If you bite a member of the Mafia who is not the Godfather, that Mafia member will die, proving to the town that there are in fact Vampires.

37) You are a Vampire. How many Vampires are allowed to be alive at one time before you are able to convert another player?
Vampires cannot convert more players if there are four alive Vampires. Keep in mind that dead Vampires win with alive Vampires, so if you need to lynch one member in order to convert more players, consider doing so.

38) You are a Werewolf. You target a Veteran who is on alert. There is also a Bodyguard protecting the Veteran. What will happen?
All three of you will die. The Bodyguard cannot protect the Veteran while the Veteran is on alert. The Veteran will simply shoot all visitors.

39) You are a Werewolf. It is a full moon and you decide to stay home. Three people visit you. What will happen?
All three players will be attacked by you. If a Bodyguard visits you while you are staying at home, the Bodyguard will die and kill you as well.

40) You are a Witch. You control a Werewolf to visit someone. Will you die?
If you control a Werewolf to visit himself or to visit yourself, you will die. If you control him to visit anyone else, you will live on.

41) You are a Witch. Can you control a Survivor to protect you using his vests?
No, you cannot. The Survivor will simply waste a vest. You can control a Bodyguard or Doctor to protect you though.

42) You are a Blackmailer. Who is immune to being blackmailed?
Only jailed targets are immune to being blackmailed. You can even blackmail a Veteran who is on alert, though you will die in the process unless you are healed by a Doctor.

43) You are a Consigliere. What does your role do?
You get to see the exact role of a person when you investigate them. If you're claiming to be an Investigator, be careful. If you state who you've investigated and there is a Spy, the Spy will be able to call you out as a Consigliere because the Spy sees who the Mafia visits each night. If you're writing a will, be sure to not give out information which may help the town members if you die.

44) You are a Consort. You roleblock the Spy. What effect does that have on the Spy?
The Spy will not be able to see who the Mafia have visited that night. The Spy will still be able to listen to the Mafia's night chat.

45) You are a Disguiser. What will happen if you visit a Veteran who went on alert?
You will die to the Veteran. You will appear in the graveyard as a Veteran who was killed by a Veteran. This makes it obvious that you were really a Disguiser.

46) You are a Forger. Is the Lookout able to see you visit?
Yes, the Lookout can see you visit.

47) You are a Framer. On night one you decide to frame John. On night two you decide to frame Betty. The Sheriff investigates John on night one and on night two. What will the Sheriff's results be for both nights?
On night one, the Sheriff will see John as "a member of the mafia". On night two, the Sheriff will see John as "not suspicious".

48) You are a Godfather who has selected a target to kill. Unfortunately you are roleblocked that night. Will the Mafioso go out to kill your target?
The Mafioso will only kill if the Mafioso has selected a target. If the Godfather is roleblocked, whoever the Mafioso chooses to target will be attacked. The same applies if the Mafioso is roleblocked. The Godfather will go out to attack a player if the Godfather has picked a target.

49) You are a Janitor. You select to clean someone who dies that same night. What will happen in the morning?
You will see the role of the dead person. You may view that person's will in the graveyard. Only you will know of the role and the will. Your Mafia will not be informed of it.

50) You are a Mafioso. The Godfather is dead. Will you be promoted to the Godfather?
If you are the original Mafioso, yes. If both the Godfather and the Mafioso are dead, the Random Mafia can only be promoted to Mafioso.
