This page is a list of the different types of victory messages in Town of Salem.

Most commonly, a victory is achieved for a faction (Town, Mafia, Coven or any Neutral Killing role and some Neutral Chaos roles) once there are no living members of the other factions (killed, lynched or converted). Some Neutral Benign, Neutral Evil and Neutral Chaos roles may win independently of any faction because they have different goals.

A win may occur at the beginning of the day (after the nightly deaths have been announced) or after a successful lynch. The suicide (by leaving) of the last opposing player will not immediately trigger a victory. If all remaining faction members die at the same time, it is a draw by wipeout.

If there are no deaths in two consecutive days late in the game (days 7+), a draw by timeout will occur despite opposing factions being left alive.

A kingmaker occurs when two opposite factions are left alive with one non-faction role, like a Survivor or Executioner. One simple occurrence would be a Godfather and a Serial Killer left alive with a Survivor. The game will not end until a draw by timeout occurs or the Survivor votes to lynch either the Godfather or Serial Killer.

A stalemate may occur when only two players are left alive who are unable to kill or lynch the other (e.g. a Serial Killer versus the Godfather) or one can prevent the other from killing indefinitely (e.g. an Escort versus an Arsonist). In most cases, this will not lead to a draw, but to an automatic victory for one of the remaining factions. This win normally goes for the faction with the lowest win rate.

Faction Victory

A faction victory is achieved for either the Town, Mafia, Vampires or any Neutral Killing role if at least one member of one faction is alive while all members of the other factions are dead (by any means). In case of a faction victory, all members of this faction win, dead or alive.

Town Victory

Town Victory

This will occur when the Town is the last standing faction alive when all members of the Mafia, Coven, Neutral Killing, and Neutral Chaos (excluding the Pirate) are dead. If a Vigilante is alive with a Witch, the game will continue until one of them is killed. The game will also not end if there is more than one Witch. A Transporter will win in a 1v1 situation against only a Mafioso.

Mafia Victory

Mafia Victory

In a one versus one situation, any Mafia member win automatically against an Escort or the Jailor without executions. Additionally, the Godfather wins automatically against a Transporter.

Vampire Victory

Vampire Victory

In addition to killing or lynching, Vampire can also win by converting the last Town member to a Vampire. In a one versus one situation, a Vampire will automatically win against a Transporter, but will be forced to draw with an Escort.

Serial Killer Victory

Serial Killer Victory

In a one versus one situation, a Serial Killer wins automatically against a Transporter, the Jailor (without executions), the Godfather, the Mafioso, or a Vampire. This is due to its low win rate.

Arsonist Victory

Arsonist-Wins-2017

In a one versus one situation, an Arsonist wins automatically against an Escort, the Jailor without executions, a Transporter, the Godfather, the Mafioso, a Vampire or a Serial Killer. An Arsonist will also automatically win against most roles that have no way to stop the Arsonist so that the game does not drag on for an unnecessary amount of time.

  • Against the Werewolf, both roles are capable of killing each other, so it is either a full-moon night and the Werewolf, and the Werewolf wins; the full-moon night and ignition happen on the same night, in which it is a draw by wipeout; or ignition happens on a non-full-moon night, and the Arsonist wins.
  • Against the Veteran, mindgames ensue.

Werewolf Victory

Werewolf-Wins-2017

Most deadlocks do not occur with the Werewolf, as they will kill role blockers, kill Transporters and bypass Basic defense. In a one versus one situation, the Werewolf wins automatically against the Godfather, the Mafioso, a Vampire, the Veteran (with or without alerts) or a Serial Killer.

Non-Faction Victory

If all remaining faction members die in the same night or a draw by timeout occurs, one of the following victory messages will appear. The message does not mean that all players with that role have won. Additionally, these roles may also win during a faction victory, even without their own victory message.

Witch Victory

Witch-Wins-2017

A Witch Victory is the result of at least one Witch surviving when all faction members are dead. Only the living Witches will win. Witches do not win during Town victories or during any draw, even if there are no Townies left alive. In any situation with an alive Vigilante or multiple Witches, the game will continue unless either role is killed. In a 1v1 situation against a Vigilante without bullets, the Witch will win.

Survivor Victory

Survivor-Wins-2017

A Survivor Victory is the result of at least one Survivor surviving during a wipeout. Only the living Survivors will win. Survivors can win during any faction victory. Survivors also win in the event of a Draw.

Executioner Victory

Executioner-Wins-2017

An Executioner Victory is the result of at least one Executioner winning by having lynched their target on an earlier date. Winning by becoming a Jester and being lynched does not apply. The Executioner does not have to be alive to win. Executioners can win during any faction victory or a draw.

Jester Victory

Jester-Wins-2017

A Jester Victory is the result of at least one Jester winning by being lynched on an earlier date. If anyone besides the Jester wins, their victory message will appear instead. Jesters can win during any faction victory or a draw.

Neutrals Victory

Neutrals-Win-2017

A Neutrals Victory is the result of no faction winning except for multiple Neutral roles during a wipeout or elimination of all factional roles, an example being a Survivor and a Pirate won and they are the last two people alive. Any non-factional neutrals that are alive will instead have their own win screen shown. If multiple neutrals are alive, and at least one of them has won, this win screen will appear despite the fact that some alive neutrals have not won.

Factional and Non-Factional Victories in the Coven Expansion

Coven Victory

Coven Victory

The Coven will win when they are the final faction alive and all rivals have been killed minus outsider Neutrals. In a one-versus-one situation, all Coven roles that can be roleblocked will automatically win against an Escort.

Plaguebearer Victory

Plaguebearer Victory

This occurs when the Plaguebearer is the only independent faction that has won the game when all others have died, and has not yet infected everyone. The win screen used to appear when Pestilence won in general.

Pestilence Victory

Pestilence Victory-0

This occurs when the Pestilence is the only independent faction that has won the game, excluding all Neutral Benign and Neutral Evil roles along with the Pirate.

Juggernaut Victory

Juggernaut Victory-1

This occurs when the Juggernaut is the only independent faction that has won the game, excluding outsider Neutrals.

Guardian Angel Victory

Guardian Angel Victory

This win screen will appear when only the Guardian Angel wins the game when another role that has failed to complete their goal has lived while being the target of the Guardian Angel. This occurs during a draw or a wipeout where the Guardian Angel's target survives but does not win, meaning they fail their goals. The only roles that can do this are Pirates and Amnesiacs, however, an Amnesiac can remember themselves as a Jester or Executioner and fail, still granting the Guardian Angel a victory, depsite neither a Jester or Executioner being able to be the starting target of the Guardian Angel

Pirate Victory

Pirate Victory

This will occur when only the Pirate achieves their goal during a wipeout or draw.

Lovers Victory

Lovers Win

A Lovers Victory occurs only when the remaining people alive are lovers of each other in the Lovers game-mode. As long as no players who do not have lovers are alive, this victory will appear. If any non-lovers remain with the collection of lover pairs, the game will not end and the goals of each role will come into effect. (Two pairs of lovers that are mixes of Town and Neutrals with one outsider Godfather; game will not end until either the Godfather is killed or wins.) In a Lovers Victory, only alive lovers will win the game. This means if that even if the remaining lovers are all Town roles, only the lovers will win and the rest of the Town members who are dead will not win. The Pirate may also win if he achieved two successful plunders before dying.

Draw

A Draw occurs in two different situations. In both cases, only Survivors, ExecutionersJesters, Pirates, and Guardian Angels can win provided they fulfilled their win conditions, though if that happens, their own victory will be shown instead of this one. An Amnesiac or any Witches that survive a draw will not win.

Draw-2017

Wipeout

A wipeout occurs when all players and factions are dead. This means no members of the Town, Mafia, Coven, Vampires, or any Neutrals are alive. Those that complete their goal but are dead will have their win screen shown instead, and all other players will receive a loss.

Timeout

The game ends because there have been no deaths for two consecutive days and nights, and must be late in the game. There will be a notification on the preceding day when this is about to happen. If the Vampires bite the last non-Vampire Town member on a night where the game would otherwise end in a draw, the game will end in a Vampire victory, not a draw.

Stalemate

In the event that the final two players happen to be of opposing factions, the stalemate detector may activate, rewarding an automatic win to one of those players or factions. If a Jester was lynched during the day, the game will not end the same day, because a Jester's haunt can break any deadlock in this list. Below is a table which lists situations where the stalemate detector will automatically end the game to prevent a draw, and a list of roles that would otherwise continue the game as normal until either side is killed. The list for Coven roles is not finished and requires more testing.

J If the Jailor has executions left, the stalemate detector will not grant an automatic victory to their opponent, and the game will continue.

Most Coven-exclusive roles have stalemates that are still unknown, but are currently being tested. This includes all Coven faction roles and the Juggernaut.

Blank boxes indicate two outcomes:

1. The game continues as normal until either side dies.

2. The roles who meet are in the exact same faction, and therefore cannot be against each other.
